TeleAvatars: custom character guide

Send custom sprites for TeleAvatars characters — you and other viewers will be able to pick them. This is a prank we run purely for ourselves, so the rules are not strict. But I do want the widget to look coherent and to be easy to extend.

☝️ File requirements

  • one image holding the character’s sprites for the different actions
  • sprites may sit anywhere, but organise them in rows for convenience (padding does not matter)
  • the game’s style is pixel art, roughly pseudo-16-bit (a bit less or more is fine)
  • a sprite is about 40 pixels tall (less or more is fine — experiments with proportions welcome)
  • the background is ideally transparent, but a flat colour is accepted too
  • a PNG file, so it does not turn to mush
  • up to 4 files, each up to 12 MB

☝️ The minimum set of sprites

  • required: idle. At least 2 frames, at most 16
  • required: walk. At least 2 frames, at most 16
  • optional: jump. At least 1 frame, at most 16
  • optional: fall. At least 1 frame, at most 16
  • optional: attack. At least 1 frame, at most 16

The optional list will grow (lying down, celebrating…). When an optional animation is missing, idle/walk are used as appropriate.

You must name the source — the site or the author. A submission without it cannot be accepted.
