Who is Mikhail Tomilov?

Mikhail Tomilov — (also known as Dj Mikhail Tomilov and “Uncle Misha”) — is a 56-year-old (as of summer 2026) professional press photographer who took up DJing a few years ago and became a viral star of Tubbyland and of social media. His mixes hit you right in the heart, and his performances leave you smiling and warm inside.

Mikhail records energetic music sets (house, drum & bass, techno, breaks) on professional gear. His videos are full of vigorous activity — twirling “sticks” and bags, grilling shashlik or chopping firewood right in the middle of recording a mix. Mikhail’s wife often appears in the videos, quietly supporting her husband’s hobby. He films his work at the dacha, which gives his videos a homely, welcoming quality. Dropping in on Mikhail feels like visiting your uncle for a private concert.

His music

On his social media Mikhail tells how he became an avid music lover at the age of 10–12. Back then he downloaded music through a slow dial-up modem, pirated tracks onto floppy disks and swapped them with school friends. But life led him down a path made of photographic film rather than vinyl. Even so, in 2023 Mikhail decided to try something completely new! Saying that “it is never too late to learn something new”, he started to master mixing tracks.

A couple of years down that road, it bore fruit. By 2025 his videos were picking up their first real popularity, and in 2026 he was invited to his first open-air, which became the maestro’s debut. The event was held in Saint Petersburg. The first leg of his performance took place on 21 June 2026: Uncle Misha played a two-hour daytime set from 15:00 to 17:00 in the “Brusnitsyn” cultural quarter — a popular public space on the bank of Kozhevennaya Line on Vasilyevsky Island, overlooking the Gulf of Finland. The recording of that performance was then uploaded to Mikhail’s channel on 24 June.

After that event his career changed gear, and all sorts of outfits and crews started inviting him to their venues.

• 1. A show in Ulyanovsk (18 July 2026): Uncle Misha became the main headliner of the AUX party at the popular Ulyanovsk club “Matryoshki”. His arrival caused quite a stir in the city, and the artist later officially published the recording of that hour-long set under the title “MIX Ulyanovsk club Matreshki”.
• 2. A big concert in Moscow (25 July 2026): a large-scale set right in the centre of Moscow, at the “Grafit Dvor” art venue — which did not happen. “The party on 25 July with my participation will not take place. For organisational reasons. My apologies to everyone who has already bought tickets” — that was a post from 22 July, 3 days before the concert. By today the post has already been deleted.

Mikhail’s attitude to Tubbyland

Mikhail Tomilov has never stated an official position on his role in Tubbyland. Despite that, Mikhail is the channel’s resident DJ:

• His performances regularly serve as the musical backdrop of the streams
• Mikhail can often be spotted dancing behind Farost
• Greeting Mikhail on a broadcast, the whole chat chants “Hello, Mikhail Tomilov!” over the streamer’s howl of “MIKHAIIIIL TOMILOOOOV”
• Tubbyland’s cultural village of Tomilovka is named in Mikhail’s honour

The influence Mikhail has had on Tubbyland cannot be captured in ordinary terms. It has to be felt.
